Experience

Working with KARYN

Knot & Wing Photography is a Northlake, TX family photographer specializing in calm, unhurried in-home and outdoor sessions throughout Northlake and the greater DFW area.

I have captured heartache, heartbreak and the most heart bursting joy and tears through my lens. I have photographed everything from births in hospitals, first moments, posed newborns, lifestyle newborns. cake smashes, last moments, to last moments with pets and loved ones, new pets, new homes,  new businesses', starting of relationships, engagements, elopements, weddings, first steps, meeting mom or dad coming home from a 6-9 military deployment, seniors ,  adoptions, new baby feet after years of IVF treatments and prayers, miracles and goodbyes.

My approach to photographing children is deeply influenced by my background in education. I hold a Master's degree in Special Education and have professional experience supporting children with a wide range of developmental, sensory, communication, and behavioral needs. That experience taught me something I carry into every session: every child connects differently.  Some children need movement, some need extra time to warm up, some feel more comfortable with fewer directions, and others simply need the freedom to explore before they're ready to engage. Rather than expecting your child to adapt to a traditional photo session, I thoughtfully adapt the experience to them—meeting them where they are and creating space for their individual personality to shine. My goal is for you to feel confident knowing your child will be welcomed, understood, and beautifully photographed exactly as they are.

FAQ

01. How do we book you for the wedding?

Super easy! Before you book I know this is a huge decision! I'd love to sit and have coffee or a tea with you,  get to know you, see if we would be a great fit for your big day, discuss packages and anything else you want to tell me about your visions for the day before you send my any deposits.

02. Do you travel for destination weddings?

To be honest! I've only traveled a few hours for a wedding session, but I would absolutely love the idea of photographing a destination wedding, so don't hesitate to reach out!

03. How do you handle family photos on the wedding day?

Family photos are one of my fortes! SO for a wedding day, family photos are no different for me. I like to capture a few posed looking at camera for your extended family to hang on the wall, but I will most likely add in a few prompts and bad dad jokes to get your family laughing and smiling at each other as well. Depending on the size of your wedding, I may have my second photographer or one of your loudest and best besties to assist me with making sure we have everyone on your list in the frame.

04. Do you offer engagement sessions?

YES!  I love love capturing couples for surprise proposals or after their engagement, and getting to know them before their big day. So for me, engagement photos are super important and included in most of my packages.
